1. Who We Are

PathWrite (operated by ATH Solutions) is a personalised book creation platform for any age group and genre. We are committed to protecting the personal information of our users in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: Name, email address, password (hashed), country.
  • Book personalisation data: Character names, relationship details, and story customisations you provide.
  • Photos: Images uploaded to personalise your books. These are stored securely and used solely for book generation.
  • Payment information: We do not store card details. Payments are processed by PayFast and Stripe.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, device type, and IP address for security and analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and deliver your personalised books.
  • To process payments and manage your orders.
  • To send transactional emails (order confirmations, account notifications).
  • To improve our platform and prevent fraud.
  • With your consent, to send marketing communications.

4. Your Rights (POPIA / GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request erasure of your data (right to be forgotten).
  • Data portability - receive your data in a structured format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.

5. Photos You Upload

Photos uploaded to PathWrite are stored securely and are used exclusively to generate your personalised book. We do not:

  • Share photos with third parties.
  • Use photos to train AI or machine learning models.
  • Retain photos after your account is deleted (deletion within 30 days of request).

6. Data Retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active and for a period thereafter as required by law. Order records are retained for 7 years for tax compliance purposes.

7. Third-Party Services

  • PayFast - payment processing (South Africa)
  • Stripe - payment processing (international)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging - push notifications (optional, if you enable them)
